Our clients needed an architect in South Hams, Devon to provide them with a Full exterior and interior design service for their Replacement dwelling.
This is a design for a replacement dwelling on a dramatic coastal location in the South Hams. The large 5 bedroom house has an upside down arrangement with three bedroom located at ground floor level, with the master bedroom suite and living space at first floor.
The design has an expressed timber frame over two stories. Within the framework sits large planes of glass, render and slate, enjoying the dramatic views out to sea. The sculptural butterfly roof ( reminiscent of a seagull on the wing ) floats elegantly over the structure allowing exaggerated floor to ceiling heights at the eaves, no external rainwater goods and a open plan arrangement in the large living space.
We hope to submit a planning application shortly.
We have worked with the team at van Ellen and Sheryn on 6 projects as there Principle Contractors.
3 of the projects have been in a National park and one on a listed building within the National park – this particular project was the first building to gain planning permission of its type – no small achievement and a credit to the practice. They are a very approachable practice who interpret the clients requirements with some original and practical design features that also meet the budget. The release and quality of the information on the drawings is clear and easy to work to. Each project has been better than the last – looking forward to working with the team on the next one!
